A late, weak thermal. Headed to the lake about 4. Already kites in the air; a few cars at BarbedWire, at least as many at Pepe's point. Not a white cap in sight when I arrived at IB. But hope springs eternal, I guess, so I rigged my 7.0 and tried to be optimistic. Turns out, with a reasonable size sail and a really big front wing it's possible to get up on foil in amazingly light wind:-) According to my tripod-mounted anemometer, the peak gust was 20mph (must have been VERY brief) but the average was less then 7mph.

Just before I launched a couple of kiterfoilers launched from in front of the Dock of the Bay restaurant. Both were using very high aspect foil kites.

Water temp is still quite tolerable at about 65ºF.

Very few people in the park and just a couple of motorboats on the water.
