Wtb basic-intermediate setup for light wind

Postby Travis Cook » Sun Jul 06, 2014 9:29 pm

I've been kiting for years and wanting to get my kids into wind riding when we're hanging out at the lake together. Kind of hard to peel away for 3 hours to set up and ride my kite gear. But I could throw out a simple wind surf rig and give them wind basics.

So, what would you recommend for a basic setup with one or two sail sizes and do you have anything for sale? Thanks!!

Travis:

I work for Starboard / Severne, and live in SLC.

We see a lot of interest in our Windsurf / SUP inflatable boards these days.

Here is why I am a big fan of these boards:

- packs up in back pack bag
- doesn't damage as easy as composite boards (especially with kids)
- soft board to play on (no scratchy surface)
- easy to travel with no roof rack needed.
- doubles as a very verstile SUP board. (my family uses our equally for SUPing and windsurfing)
- i can windsurf on it with my entire family.
- also taught many first lessons on the board

This year out of all the boards I have this board has had the most use.

Lastly I would match the inflatable windsup with kids rig or

or
SUPer Sail

The demo WIndsup I have here is available for demo - $50 for a weekend or 2 days.

Thanks
Josh

Thanks Josh. I'll probably take you up on that. I suppose that board has beginner level balance and edging. Good for kids but can you really have fun or go up wind? You can put extra people on it? Nice that it is more portable.

Bump. Still looking for options on gear to buy for wind surf. In addition to the inflable options. Thanks!
