What are you going to do with your 7.5 if you find an 8.5?

wow, 8.5 needed! How about a wider board! 85cm isn't that wide for example a used Formula board will go like hell to windward and yeah its a little harder to turn but who turns! I can't fault the logic of bigger is better, having ridden a START in 2001 with a 9.0, which rode like hell till the chiro bills came in later...

John, Actually I’m looking at 9.0 now... But I must say you are THE reason I have my Free Formula 138 and it has been perfect! When Mike offered to sale it I looked it up and was horrified by the picture. Why would anyone want to ride on a board shaped like a dinner plate? But I read your endorsement and I must say you nailed it. :-P So I value your opinion and I am glad I listened. I have intended to thank you for the advice.

That said… I am thinking about getting a Go or Futura 122 as my next board. (The waves a Utah lake can get uncomfortable when the wind is 15+ on the 138.) In fact several times I have been skunked by too much wind at Utah lake. Yes I am a wimp  I picked up a SuperGu 102 and Chango 85. :|| I thought I would be on them in no time. Oops! Maybe a mid sized board will get me there quicker? I am determined to get there! I hope to max out the 138L on a 9.0, get a bit more time on plane, in the straps and build skills and confidence towards the next step in my progression. Oh and I may as well have something to do when the wind is only 10-15. Its better than sitting out. I hope. So maybe I will look into a formula, you were right before, Or save up for a 122. Probubly either would be fun. Thanks again, Shawn
