3/14 Rush 10M RPM

Postby Jon Manwaring » Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:14 pm

Got on the water before 10:00 with my 10, Near 12:00 wished I had a 12 and by 1:00 it was all DONE. Fun while it lasted.
Andy arrived as I was leaving. He'll have to let you know if it came back. It had a bit of the wicked witch from the West in it as it was dying. Looked like it was snowing on the East side of the Stansbury Mtns to the West.
PS. I gathered up the Orange Peels that someone forgot from Tues. If you send me your address I'll get them back to you ;))

Nice work Jon!!! Three in a row for the geezer. haha. Marty, you were wrong! Jon is still a kiter. You owe him a beer or tequila shot. And I owe you one for this post. Retirement sounds nice. Can you imagine Marty in retirement? The wind log would be strewn with his posts of epic sessions. We have some ripping grandpa's in our kite crew. How many generations of kiters can we get on the water at once?

p.s.- Andy is an addict!!!!

LOL I'm just trying to get it while I can....

It came back up enough that I got out on 11.5 but needed my big board today. I was jammin and havig a good time. Then it absolutely quit and I had to walk all the way across the lake back to the beach. Walking across Rush is better than self rescuing at DC though.... got about an hour of kiting in.

I didn't have much time and had to get back in my work attire. I'm back at my desk in my office right now! haha!

Of course now that I check the meter Pennys is showing that it came back up again after I left.... rookie mistake.....

Me and Jeff, that's two generations. Three might be tough. Did have three generations on the slopes at PCMR several times this winter. Retirement is SO.....Nice. Kiting, Dirt Biking,Skiing all in the same week. Only decisions I have to make is what toys will I play with TODAY!!!! Was trying for 100 days this season, but came up kinda short. Will probably end up around 70.

Andy is an addict. Shows up dressed to kill and then changes back and returns to office. Kinda like the KMan.

Wishful thinking but is Rush deep enough for a windsurfing fin this year?

Depends on the length of your fin: and where you sail in the Pond, I'd guess the South Butter Zone is less than a foot deep. Middle is probably 3 feet in depth. Size always matters. Better answered by Craig G, he's been out. Brett P also WS'd

Sounds doable with 20+ mph wind.

Thanks for the info.

That's the way I see it. It's maybe a little over 3 ft deep in the middle. No problem for
me on a 75 Ltr board (24 CM skeg) and a 5.5. Plenty of reach on the South East wind.
If you had a stubby wide 14 inch skeg you could probably make a 6.5 work, but I doubt you
could carry a big enough skeg to make a 7.5 or larger work without a very short reach.

p.s. if it's not too rainy I might go out tomorrow.
