Where to Ride 1/19 - update

Postby Kenny » Mon Jan 19, 2009 6:56 am

It is 5:50 in the morning, I pulled up the NOAA wind Observations and low and behold a Skyline meter is on the map. It is currently showing a ESE at 17 gusting to 29. The location and elevation look about right. Looks like the sweet SE wind is currently blowing at Skyline and we now have a Skyline wind meter!!! OR is it just too good to be true and my morning eyes are playing tricks on me?

I am headed to Pineview right now, wish I had the time to go to the Line.

Kenny,
The Skyline sensor has been up for awhile. 9,330 feet, on the road, just before you get to the main parking area. The camera is pointed NW toward Mt Nebo. I see a stake right in front of the camera today, we need a telltale or a flag on that stake. The camera is great for checking whiteouts at Skyline. Whit

Thanks Whit. I know the spot, I think that position would be in a wind shadow if the wind was coming out of the southwest, but may be okay for the usual west thermal. I agree, let's tie a nice streamer to the stake. I am going to pick up some fluorescent ribbon at Home Depot and a few stakes. Whenever I pass one of the fixed position cameras, I am going to place some streamers.
