Where to Ride 1/31 - Updated

The wind outlook this AM looks decent. I am going to ignore the NOAA point forecasts today as the actual observations already show good wind, winds aloft also look good, and it should strengthen in the afternoon. PowMow is showing West wind in the low 20's this AM. Keep an eye on it, if it stays the same, PowMow should be could on packed conditions. If it strengthens, you may want to venture out to Monte.

Skyline should be good for west wind in the low to mid-teens on packed conditions, but you can probably still find powder stashes. Check the meter before you head out.

Strawberry is the real question. I think it will turn on. Watch the meter at Strawberry River. It actually may be blowing out there already at the cabins, there is just no way of knowing for sure without going out there. Wish we had cell service out there so that we could report back to the crew. As far as riding at the cabins, there is a lot of sagebrush sticking up near the road, if you cross that area and go down into the cabin area and the area upwind from the cabins, there is plenty of good sage-free riding, but if you are a beginner, you will want to stay clear of that area and go to ladders instead or better yet, just head out to Evanston and ride Sulphur Creek as it is about the same distance and it will be blowing nicely there this afternoon, already blowing 10 mph this AM.

Sunday is looking good for NW winds at Strawberry and Skyline.
