Landkiters Anonymous

Postby Landon Burch » Sat Mar 19, 2011 9:50 am

Hello All,

I recently "transplanted" from Ogden to the big SLC. I'm having a tough time finding any spots to get some landkiting action in the SLC Valley, and Tooele areas. I'm hoping to avoid driving out to the Salt Flats, but wouldn't mind going out Grantsville way. Any suggestions on locations? Is there anyone out there that is landkiting in the area, or is landkiting a faux pas these days?

Thanks,

Landon

I'm in your shoes. Last Saturday me and two friends took a drive out to the salt flats, which were extremely mushy. After I came home, I ended up finding the "local sites and maps" portion of the site (which is freakin awesome) and saw that it's bad "land-kiting" for the early spring or any time after it snows.

There's been a few spots I've wondered about in the SL valley that I've considered; one being the open fields as you drive into day break (south jordan) and some of the bigger parks; the local sites on this site also suggests bluffdale park. I grew up in Riverton and it is windy, though I can't think of what bluffdale park looks like.
