I had been checking about 15 different wind meters before committing to the journey and decided to just roll the dice and see what we could find. We headed for Grantsville at around 2:30 and the South wind that I had been watching all morning was in the process of switching to the West, needless to say by the time we got there it was over except for 2 pretty impressive dust devils. The backup plan B kicked in and we headed to Rush from the back way in. The South end of the lake was glassy with a few vehicles at the shore either packing up from a session or waiting for more wind so we struck out there too. Backup plan C kicked in and we headed for Utah Lake which had a few caps here and there as we passed Rocky Point :( and Pelican Bay on the way to MM-19. We drove down to the shore and the caps were bigger and more consistant than what we saw at the North end. As we crested the edge down to the shore we startled some local red necks who were shooting their guns out over the water so we smiled and waived and prayed like hell that we would not be targets when we went out on the water. We pulled as far past them as we could at the last of the decent launches and rigged up and got some great powered rides for about an hour before it backed off. The shooting never stopped, the water was a warm greenish gray, and there were only about 3 dead 50 lb rotting carp to avoid all of which made for a typical, lovely Utah Lake session.
