Kiting at Grantsville and Sulfer Creek

Postby pavel krasnov » Fri Oct 02, 2015 12:44 pm

Does anyone ever kite those two lakes. Grantsville seems to have good winds in the mornings, and is pretty close to Salt Lake City. I know people windsurf it, but is kiting there possible?

Grantsville is tough for kiting. not recomended IMHO. if you did kite it could be good, but if something goes wrong you will not be a happy camper. no escape route down wind unless you are spiderman and liek to cling to rocky cliffs.

Sulphur can be good. you have to know the patterns as a kiter or you swim. not a biggie if you wait and dont panic because it usually comes back up. Marty always said you want a NW in it, not SW. also look for craig to post higher winds there 5m(sail)/12m(kite) and it can be good. If craig says big sail dont waste your gas for kiting. Craig knows sulphur, after all there is a plaque of him on the highway killing it (I think). Back in the day that was the only game in town to windsurf predictable thermals.
