East Canyon or GSL Helping Hand for a New Guy

Postby PeterFlex » Fri May 27, 2005 12:39 pm

Does anyone ever ride East Canyon or Great Salt Lake? I am just getting into KiteBoarding and curious if these locations are ridden or rideable?

Also, is there anyone out there who would be willing to help a newbie off the ground. I have been flying power kites for 3 years. Wakeboarding for 4 and I am ready to put the two together. I have been flying my trainer kite for the last couple of weeks, watching a couple of DVD's for all the proper kiteboarding procedure and protocol. My board and harness just showed up today and I expect my kite sometime next week.

I picked up
FlexiFoil StrikeII 15m
LiquidForce Truth 150

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
If it doesn't fly don't buy.

GSL is too salty, especially for learning. East Canyon does not have steady wind. You could get every direction in a day. There also is not a good clear launch for kites.

You need to go Rush or Utah lake if you are learning. Rush will be best and get to Rush in the next few weeks because it will dry up or moss over soon.

Have fun.
