A question for the Utah windrats so proficient at searching for wind:

I think i did not get my share of sailing this year.

Where to sail in Late december?
Anything doing on a direct flight from SLC?
A place with gear rental available?
Oh yeah cheaper is better of course ;)

Thank you :)

Emmanuel

If I am in Utah I already have snowboarding and skiing! Not much room for another sport!! :)

Naaa I want the real deal, beaches, sun, warm water, steady winds and waves... Yeah.. That's about it.

That place looks great! Any experience with the Velawindsurf deal in Los Barriles? I take it it's next door.

Hum... More wind is better I guess.
Any good rental place in La Ventana? Is it easy to get by with little to no spanish? (I speak absolutely no spanish. I guess I could learn the basics).
Also why are all the windsurf place on the sea of Cortez and not on the Atlantic side? Wouldnt the wave be better? Is it a wind issue?

I'm headed for Hawaii over the Christmas holiday. It's rumored
there are direct flights from SLC, but I haven't found one yet.
Rental gear is plentiful. You already know this , so just do it.

There is a direct Maui flight from slc (Delta 549 leaves at noon arrives at 3pm). Used it once. Good luck, we had good wind last Feb. for a long weekend and rented from Francisco with Goya (old maui windsurf co.) I really like the direct flights as multiple connections can shorten the trip and take it out of you. Rob

Maui winter winds can be good, can be flukey too. Mexico might be a better bet. Costa Rica (Arenal) is pretty solid by then also. Me, I'm with Kenny, there's no reason for me to find someplace killer to go in the winter, I'm here. Good luck either way.
