Long time utah windsurfer, not planning on giving that up, however I am hoping to get into kiting. Lessons, rig..... ect. Don't want useless gear, rather struggle a little and get equiptment that I will be able to use, Looking for lighter wind days, still planning to windsurf when windy. Chris Nugent

I have some nice North Rino Kites. These are high performance, High profile, inflatable kites. These are set up with a fifth line for super easy relaunch ability and would include a bar.

1 14 meter excellent condition, hardly used. 2004 model
1 9.3 meter has more use, a few small patches in outer shell. 2003 model. Let me know if you are interested, kodyhh@hotmail.com (435)770-7116.

Chris,
I knew you (and your brother) would want to kite.
When is Dave gonna want to try?
Are you two splitting gear to kite?
You e-mailed me the question you posted,
I've chosen to post my reply here.
I know you like Caberette, is that where you plan to take lessons?

If your taking lessons, use thier equipment first,
then educate yourself on the different kite options, before you buy.

If you get "c" kites, make sure you get a 5th line setup.

Or

You may want one of the new "bow" style kites.

The forums have a wealth of knowledge, search for information, ask questions, etc.

P.S. Snowkiting is the way I would suggest anyone learn to kite.
then move to water. Learning curve is drastically reduced.

Marty, looks like I'm not going to Cabarete this year, looks like Brazil in the Fall.... So I am hoping to buy gear and get on the water as soon as possible. I appreciate the reply, just looking for help with the gear I should buy so I don't get stuck with crap that I will want to replace asap.....
If you have any suggestions that would be great! Board, kite, bar..... whatever
Thanks

Chris,

13M or 11M Ozone Instinct,
Is my current favorite kite.

It is a hybrid, that has bow kite depower and safety,
with feel closer to traditional "c" kite.
The most stable kite I've flown, and a huge wind range.

Call Jon @ Mountian Top Kites
435 901 1420
He is offering Utah kiters, discounts,
on Ozone, Slingshot, Best, North, Naish, Cabrinha brands
(he has some demo Slingshot Fuels for sell also)

snow kite first!

Postby stokes » Wed May 31, 2006 1:13 pm

I just wanted to reiterate that snow kiting first is a much easier way to learn how to kite. If you are an experienced skier, kiting is so easy to add to your skill. Walking aroound to fix your lines, launching and re-launching is really great with skiis. Obviously you can snowboard as well but the board is difficult at times when the kite is on the ground. Skiing is faster also! Finally I truly believe that get bounced on the snow is always better on the body than getting ripped thru the water (water hurts!).

My three and half cents!
