SuperFly Open 2010

Best Kiteboarding is hosting the 3rd annual 2010 Powder Mountain SuperFly Open. This spectacular and unique snowkite festival is scheduled for March 11th—14th, 2010. The event will take place at Powder Mountain Resort, known for the most skiable acreage in the U.S., rated best snow in the U.S. by Ski Magazine, and of course, infamous for ridge top WIND.

The SuperFly Open will have something for everyone. Enjoy ski-in, ski-out introductory kite clinics and watch some of the best snowkiter’s in the world showcase their talent. Launch off snow features prepared with the help of Powder Mountain’s own snow grooming team. Slide across rails and boxes generously provided by event sponsors. Compete in or watch any of the four competition categories; freestyle, kite races, best trick or big air. Multi-evening festivities include music, dining, and awards!

The SuperFly Open is a major stop on the US Snow Kite Winter Tour in the United States and dubbed as an annual “must hit” snow event for kiters worldwide! The explosion of kiteboarding in the U.S. has been demonstrated by the fact that there were only 2 events in the 2002/2003 season, compared to over 30 events held nationwide in the 2005/2006 season. This winter there are over 20 events for Snowkiting alone.

Our event will include:

a) Free Ride Sessions - Free ride the terrain, sliders, and snow features as you wish.

b) Intro Clinics - There will be introductory clinics for those who would like to see first-hand why snowkiting is so addicting. Once you l earn the basics of kite flying and feel the power of the trainer kite, you’ll be hooked. Follow the signs at the top of the Sunrise Lift.

c) Kite Races - Participate or just watch snowkiters race against each other around a predetermined course. Racers will compete in heats and will compete for top honors in a final round. Race categories are Men’s Open Ski, Men’s Open Snowboard, Women’s Open Ski, and Women’s Open Snowboard. Shadowboxlive are on board to sponsor the event by adding their "Personal 3D" Sports Recorders to each racer's board/skis that will record speed, location, acceleration, jump height, jump distance, hangtime, G-forces, exact object angles, rotation degrees, spin rates and more! Each rider will be given a CD of their Shadowbox experience to take home with them and will have a chance to win one!

d) Freestyle Comp - The freestyle competition will be an open event. Riders will be judged on a number criteria set forth before the start of the competition. Three riders in each category, Men’s Open and Women’s Open, will progress to the final round. Race categories are Men’s Open Ski, Men’s Open Snowboard, Women’s Open Ski, and Women’s Open Snowboard.

e) Big Air Expo - The Big Air Expo is an event for those that want to go big. Each year kiters are spending more time in the air and this expo will show how high, how long, and how many tricks can be executed in one flight.

There will be prizes, a cash purse and swag for event participants!

Wolf Mountain will host the YSL State Ski Championship that weekend also. This will most likely fill up any local lodging so book early if you are planning to do so.

The 3rd annual BEST Superfly Open is right around the corner, March 11-14, 2010! We have some last minute sponsors that have joined forces with us including mountain hardware, skullcandy, monster energy drinks and more! The event is going to be a blast so we are excited to have you there! DJ Dallas Casey will be providing music all day and into the evening relaxx session back at Red Moose Lodge with happy hour from 5-7PM! Also during this time, we are honored to have Skullcandy artist Son Duong custom painting some boards, murals, etc that will be up for grabs in the raffle! We also have a generous donation of a $3500 stereo system up for grabs from Zu Audio! Snow bikes, kites, mountain boards and more to be won!!

The BEST Superfly Open 2010 starts this Thursday-Sunday, March 11th -14th!
Each registrant will receive a super-sweet BEST tote bag stocked with some great swag!

The forecast is looking killer…the kickers, sliders and the kite race course are all being set up, ready and waiting for some sweet sessions!

Red Moose Lodge in Eden, UT is the “BEST” home base this year. Each night from 5-7pm come hang with us here. Each night we will showcase over $10,000 in raffle prizes (Raffle is Saturday night) cash bar, DJ Dallas Casey spinning music, Son Duong from Skullcandy will be showcasing his mad artistry skills, shadowbox will show off 3-D footage of the days events.

Each night at 8 PM, we will head over to Double Diamond Bar & Grill for live music, kite videos, karaoke and drink specials made up especially for Superfly Open attendees!
