Strawberry Marina 1-21-09

Arrived at the marina around 1:15 wind was soft and around 6-8” of powder. Used my 12m frenzy, it was slow and a lot of work, also I am pretty new at this so that might have had something to do with it. Wind picked up and had a blast, I really started to figure ut tacking back and forth, had an awesome time about 3 hours out at the lake all by my self and a few snowmobiles. Around 4:30 the storm rolled in, and I got to drive out in a white out but it was worth it.

Glad to know you had a good time. Be careful with whiteout in that area. Make sure you are only as far as you are willing/able to walk back to your car. I had a really bad experience last year during one small whiteout.

 Is the Marina on the west side? I traveled down the west side this week down to Soldiers and did not see that access.
Anybody have lat and Long on Marina access? Whiteout isnt prescribed fun.

Perry,

The Marina is on the west side. Turn south off of US 40 at the visitors center and drive south until the plowed road ends. You will find a store, restaurant and lodging in a building at the edge of the reservoir. Fun kiting on south winds, you can park and launch above the store where the road makes a sharp left near the picnic area. Also Mud Creek a bit before the Marina can be good snowkiting. Whit G
